Are You Missing Out On The New Features of Google Insights?

Last week Google launched additional features for ‘Insights Search’ which will provide marketers with even more information than before.

Data Sources

One of the new features of Google Insights for Search is the addition of new data sources.

The new Insights now includes data from Google News, Image and Product Search.

This will help to give you a better understanding of what people are searching for beyond just Google Web Search.

Choosing Advertising Messages

For example, a manufacturer may not be sure whether they want to focus most of their attention on fuel efficiency, safety, or engine performance to market a new car model.

When these terms are entered into Insights, we can see that there’s a considerable amount of interest in car safety. With this information, the manufacturer may want to consider incorporating car safety into its marketing strategy.

Category Suggestion

Have you ever wondered what other categories your search terms might fit into? Now, when a user types in a search term, Insights for Search suggests all the relevant categories that term might be classified under.

For example, if you type in the search term “apple”, this tool will show you all the relevant categories like “Food & Drink” and “Computers & Electronics.”

Entering New Markets

This tool can be very can be useful in determining a new market. A wine distributor may be looking to expand into new markets.

By entering in wine + vino, and comparing the data across multiple countries, such as Argentina, Mexico, Spain, and Venezuela, the distributor can get a sense of where interest is more prevalent.

The resulting graph indicates greater interest in Spain and Argentina. Choosing Spain, for example, the distributor can examine the sub regions and consider centralizing distribution in the La Rioja region, where interest appears to be the highest.
